Aircraft and Systems Testing Establishment (ASTE)
Air Force is the only Flight
Test Organisation of the Indian Air Force. The roots of this unique Institution can be
traced back to 1948, when IAF was acquiring its first jet fighter, the Vampire, and
Aircraft Testing Unit (ATU) was raised to test and accept the aircraft. Thus ASTE is
completing 60 years since its inception and the year 2008 marks the Diamond
Jubilee year of Flight Testing in the Indian Air Force.
To commemorate this historic milestone, ASTE is organizing a two day
international Seminar on Flight Testing at ASTE, Air Force Bangalore in February
2008. This Seminar is being co-sponsored by Hindustan Aeronautics Limited and
Defence Research and Development Organisation. The theme of the seminar is
“Design Development and Concurrent Flight Testing of Aerospace Vehicles and
Systems”. The primary objective of the Seminar is aerospace advancement by
promoting sound aeronautical design and development, interchanging ideas,
thoughts, suggestions and lessons learnt from other major flight test programmes,
thereby benefiting in the professional development of flight test crew and aerospace
industry.
